Psychological Assessments

There are many types of assessments using many different tests. I am experienced and qualified to conduct these types of assessments:

  • Parenting Capacity
  • Cognitive Capacity (intellectual, memory, problem-solving, attention/concentration, learning capacity)
  • Personality
  • Offender Risk
  • Foster Carer Assessments

I began my career in Psychiatric Services Qld and had the opportunity to train in the Halstead-Reitan neuropsychological test battery. This sparked a keen interest in using standardized tools to help understand various aspects of people’s cognitive functioning.

Reporting the results of the test is a vital part of the process. I pay particular attention to putting technical information in everyday terms. My reports are easy to read and understand. I also provide practical recommendations relating to the reason for the assessment.

The testing process includes:

  • Interview with the person being tested
  • Interviews with other relevant people to gather further information
  • Reading of any background material
  • Administering the actual assessment tool or tools
  • Writing the report
  • A follow up phone call to discuss the results if desired.

Some assessments involve several tests and can take 4 or 5 hours to complete. Regular rest breaks are included.
